Possible Research Focus Areas 1.Second Language Acquisition (SLA) o How Japanese learners at CEFR A1–A2 progress in listening, speaking, and reading. o Cognitive and sociocultural factors that affect their English learning. 2.CEFR & CEFR-J in Japan o Adapting CEFR descriptors to Japanese junior high / high school classrooms. o Challenges of aligning curriculum, textbooks, and assessment with CEFR levels. 3. Motivation & Learner Psychology o Intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation among Japanese junior high ESL learners. o Role of sports, media, or cultural interests in motivating English study. 4.Task & Activity Design o How different types of classroom tasks (games, role-play, problem-solving, project-based learning) impact fluency and confidence. o Comparison of traditional grammar-focused lessons vs. communicative activities. 5.Assessment & Feedback oUsing surveys, self-assessment, and peer assessment at the A1–A2 level. o Developing simple tools for measuring speaking confidence and vocabulary growth. 6.
